Brussels has had only 28 hours and four minutes of sunlight in 2023 so far, and the weather forecast doesn't look much brighter for the rest of January, the Meteorology Service's latest data shows.

Since the start of the new year, the weather in Brussels has mostly been overcast. People are lacking light, and the figures prove it, reports RTL Info. Since the beginning of the year, there have been several days where the sunshine duration was 0 minutes.

While it might be more appealing to remain in bed late when there is no sunlight, moving and getting up early is essential, psychologist Dimitri Haikin told the media outlet. "It is important to stay in the biological rhythms that nature has given us to get dopamine and endorphins, get up in a good mood if possible in the morning and consider the pleasant things of the day."

Keeping a healthy routine and going out to socialise with friends and family are important behaviours to resist succumbing to seasonal depression with the unfavourable weather. "All the studies on happiness we are currently doing show that when we have good social relationships, we are happier, we have a good balance," said Haikin.
