Today (Friday) has broken the record for the warmest 21 March in Belgium. The last record dates back to 87 years ago.

Another daily record for maximum temperature was broken on Friday. In Uccle, 19.8°C was measured, the Royal Meteorological Institute's (RMI) weather reporter David Dehenauw confirmed on social media on Friday.

"Uccle 19.8°C, breaking the new daily record from 1938 (19.7°C)," Dehenauw said on social media. Earlier this month, on 7 March and 8 March, the daily records were also broken. The daily temperature in Uccle has been recorded since 1892.

The RMI predicted "very mild" weather and around 19°C on Friday, with maximum temperatures even reaching 23°C locally.

Temperatures on Saturday are expected to remain relatively mild (up to 19°C), albeit cloudy with some showers and potentially even a thunderstorm in the evening. On Sunday, sunny skies and clouds will alternate, with maximum temperatures of around 14°C to 16°C.

This is not the first time this year that the weather has been unusually warm: January was the warmest January on record worldwide, with an average global temperature of 13.23°C.
