On the occasion of Mobility Week, national railway company SNCB will offer €8 tickets for a return journey to destinations across the entire country next Sunday (17 September).
Those who have been thinking of travelling further afield in Belgium by train should do so next Sunday when prices for return tickets will be significantly lowered. Furthermore, 17 September also marks Car-Free Sunday in various cities in Belgium, including Brussels, which on the day becomes the largest car-free zone in Europe.
"This inexpensive ticket (€8) is ideal for travellers going out for the day and wanting to leave the car at home. A great opportunity to go for a walk, discover a city, visit a museum or friends, all in comfort and in a sustainable way," Bart Crols, SNCB's spokesperson, said.
The reduced second-class train ticket is valid to and from all stations in the country and can be used all day Sunday. The tickets can be purchased from Wednesday 13 September on the SNCB website or app, or in stations at ticket machines or ticket counters.
Children under 12 accompanied by an adult travel free of charge with a maximum of four children for one adult, while senior citizens also benefit from a special Senior Ticket fare, costing €7.80.
