A helicopter crash in the Hudson River, New York, on Thursday, resulted in the deaths of six people, including a Spanish family of five.
The helicopter did not have a flight recorder, so there is no data available to determine what happened in the final moments. This information was provided by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which is investigating the crash.
Investigators have since recovered more parts of the wreckage, including the fuselage and cockpit. They have also met with New York Helicopter Charter Inc., the company operating the flights.
Authorities have requested information about the company’s safety policies and the pilot’s experience.
The last major inspection of the crashed helicopter took place on 1 March. Prior to the accident, the helicopter had completed seven tour flights that day; the eighth flight ended in tragedy.
Among the victims were a senior executive from Siemens Spain, his wife, and their three children. Their daughter would have turned nine on Friday.
