One person was injured in a stabbing incident at Brussels-Midi station on Monday morning, the federal police confirmed. One person was arrested.
The Brussels-Midi station was the scene of a violent altercation on Monday morning, with metro traffic interrupted between 07:00 and 08:00 due to a stabbing in the station.
"A stabbing took place in the Brussels-Midi metro station at around 05:30 on Monday," the federal police told Le Soir. "Two or three people were involved. One of them was apprehended with minor injuries. The other two individuals are still being sought."
The exact circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the federal police and the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office. On social media, a video was posted showing blood at the station's metro gates.
"I arrive at Brussels-Midi, the metro trains completely blocked, blood on the ground, police everywhere," someone said on social media. "The Brussels-Midi station turned into a crime scene, there is still blood. I am shocked, anything can seemingly happen here. And everyone's going to work as if nothing had happened."
It is unclear if the stabbing is connected to the fight at Brussels North train station earlier this weekend.
