The former MIMA museum in Brussels will host the 'Grande Bouquinerie' book sale of the Belgian Red Cross, the organisation announced on Tuesday.

From 22 to 30 March, over 1,000 m² of the building will be transformed into a temporary bookshop for charity.

"After spending years in the garages of the former Red Cross headquarters in Uccle, the Bouquinerie is opening a new chapter with a temporary move to the former MIMA museum, a place vibrant with history and creativity," the Red Cross said in a press release.

The weekend of 22 and 23 March will mark the launch of the Grande Bouquinerie. The public can browse thousands of books ånd discover and participate in the work of the Red Cross through a range of activities. This includes a presentation of an ambulance and its equipment, a visit to a first aid post and first-aid training, and blood donation on site.

Each book purchased will help fund the work of the Red Cross in Brussels. Among other things, the organisation is involved in the distribution of meals to the homeless, delivering food parcels, and supporting families in need.

In addition, 20% of the profits generated by the cafeteria will be donated to the Brussels Red Cross.

"Behind the scenes of this event, a team of dedicated volunteers works all year round to carefully sort, classify and prepare each book," emphasises the Red Cross. "They are the ones who, for more than 40 years, have been bringing this huge temporary bookshop to life."
