More than 10,000 Flemish and Brussels residents celebrated the Day of the Flemish Community in the capital on July 10 and 11, the organisation announced on Tuesday.
Various activities were organised in Brussels during these two days of celebration. On Sunday, visitors were able to immerse themselves in the urban life of Anderlecht, Forest and Saint-Gilles thanks to the event “Zicht op Zuid” (View from the South) which took place in nine different locations. About 500 participants took part in the 30 walks and guided tours on foot or by bike through Brussels during these two days.
Monday, which is the official public holiday for the Dutch-speaking community, the Place de la Monnaie welcomed 1,600 visitors for the Brussel Danst Roller Skate Jam. The Rollerdisco offered introductions on skating as well as various workshops, a DJ was also present.

The stars of the children's television series #LikeMe on the Flemish channel Ketnet took to the stage at Grand Place. The Flemish singer Raymond van de het Groenewoud accompanied by the Brussels Philharmonic also performed.
“The capital is sometimes poorly known and unloved in Flanders. This event was the perfect opportunity to show them Brussels. Three out of four participants in the activities of these two days of celebration came from Flanders,” said Benjamin Dalle, Flemish Minister for Brussels Affairs.
“In addition, after two editions marked by the coronavirus, we are happy to see young and old gathered in the city centre of Brussels to enjoy a great party.”
