'Klimaatklever' has been chosen as the word of the year 2022 in Flanders: it received 23.7% of the votes in a poll organised by dictionary publisher Van Dale, in collaboration with the Flemish public broadcaster VRT.
The term, which combines the words 'klimaat' ('climate') and 'klever' ('sticker'), refers to an activist who hangs, attaches or sticks himself to an object of symbolic value to draw public attention to the climate crisis.
In recent months, several young activists have been seen sticking their hands close to some iconic works of art in major museums.
