EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has kicked off her re-election campaign with a slew of appearances on top YouTube and streaming shows, including ‘Hot Ones’, ‘Architectural Digest’ and ‘Mr Beast’.
The worst kept secret in Brussels is out: Ursula von der Leyen will seek another five years as European Commission boss after this June’s EU election. Her re-election effort kicked off with some notable online appearances.
Von der Leyen made the announcement during an episode of hit YouTube show ‘Hot Ones’. The EU Commission president was unable to eat most of the chicken wings, insisting that all but one – plain, no sauce – were “zu scharf”.
In order to build campaign momentum, von der Leyen was also featured in an episode of Architectural Digest’s ‘Open Door’, giving viewers a glimpse into her Berlaymont apartment.
YouTube weirdo ‘Mr Beast’ also collaborated with the EU president on his new episode, which involves giving underprivileged inner-city kids secondhand burner mobile phones.
This morning, her team also announced that she will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside her old friend Hugh Jackman in the upcoming ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ movie. It is unclear what character von der Leyen will be playing.
