A Portuguese consultant arrested in France on 13 March has agreed to be transferred to the judicial authorities in Belgium within ten days.
The man, born in 1976 and holding both Portuguese and Cape Verdean nationality, was detained under a European arrest warrant issued by a Belgian judge on 27 February.
He is suspected of bribing a foreign official and participating in a criminal organisation. Both alleged offences occurred between January 2018 and February 2025.
The consultant, who resides in Brussels, has consented to his extradition to Belgium, but denies the charges against him. “He wishes to explain himself to the Belgian investigating judge as quickly as possible,” stated one of his lawyers, Mr Benoît Martinez.
