The Parti Socialiste (PS) and the Mouvement Réformateur (MR)-Les Engagés list have reached an agreement for a new coalition in Schaerbeek, various media reported on Thursday evening.
The post of mayor will be shared between the two lists.
Audrey Henry (MR) will serve as mayor for three years, while Hasan Koyuncu (PS) will take over for the remainder of the term.
Ecolo-Groen and the list of outgoing mayor Bernard Clerfayt will also be part of the coalition, which will hold 35 seats out of a total of 47.
Schaerbeek, one of 19 municipalities in Brussels, has a population of about 133 800, of whom 18.46% are native Belgians, 21.13% are of other European origin, and 52.78 are of non-European ancestry.
