The Permanent Conference of Intercommunal Waste Management (Copidec) is organising its annual collection of bikes in good condition on Saturday, 19 April at all recycling parks in Wallonia.
This collection accepts all types and sizes of bikes, including mountain bikes, racing bikes, and city bikes. Donated bikes should be cleaned and in the best possible condition, without major damage or excessive rust. No access points will be deducted at the recycling park entrance for the sole deposit of bikes.
The donated bikes will be distributed to local partners such as Red Cross Houses, public social welfare centres (CPAS), municipal services, resource centres, refugee centres, and institutions for children and adolescents. Copidec emphasises the social and sustainable nature of this initiative.
Launched for the first time in 2007, this annual initiative has already given a second life to over 63,000 bikes.
