The Christmas tram is back on the rails in Brussels from Wednesday 11 December.

Brussels public transport operator STIB relaunched the Christmas tram on Wednesday. The festive favourite will run on lines 9, 18, 19, 81, 82 and 92 until Friday 10 January 2025.

Until then, the red, green and gold tram will be decorated with lights and offer special activities on certain days.

Passengers can meet Santa Claus on board on Wednesday 18 December between 12:30 and 15:30 on line 92. There will be photo opportunities and Santa's elves will hand out candy canes.

From 11:00 to 15:00 on Saturday 21 and 28 December, passengers can get their presents wrapped at Rogier station for free. They will be able to choose between wrapping paper that depicts either the network map or STIB's line numbers. There will also be a pop-up shop selling STIB merchandise on-site.

Christmas carols will be performed at Rogier, De Brouckère and Louise metro stations on 24 and 25 December.

STIB has reminded passengers that it is possible to pay for a tram ticket on board or by scanning their bank card or smartphone/watch at the ticket machines. "All the more time to enjoy the magic of the end-of-year festivities," the operator stated.
