Police from Germany, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium have conducted a joint anti-drug trafficking operation leading to the arrest of 11 people, including in Belgium.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia announced the arrests on Thursday.

In the early hours of 27 March, police conducted searches at 32 properties across Europe as part of an operation targeting organised drug-related crime.

The operation mostly targeted Cologne and Bonn in west Germany, the statement said.

National police forces are continuing their investigation. According to the statement, the raids were in connection with an operation involved in trafficking "significant quantities" of illegal drugs.
