Brussels rapper Damso has been awarded the Ultratop Streaming Award 2023 by the Belgian Recorded Music Association and Ultratop for the fifth time.

The Ultratop Streaming Award rewards the Belgian artist whose work is most streamed in Belgium. Since the start of his career in 2016, Damso's repertoire has already been streamed some 507.3 million times in Belgium. Last year, the rapper reached more than 42 million streams.

By winning the award for the fifth time, Damso is the record holder; Stromae won the Ultratop Streaming/Download Award four times (2010, 2013, 2014 and 2022).

"During my career, I have made songs and albums in so many different styles. I have therefore been lynched by the media and yet my Belgian fans have always followed and supported me," Damso said, adding he was pleased, honoured and proud of the open-mindedness of his supporters.

"The fact that I am Belgium's most-streamed artist for the fifth time when I have not released a new album for several years motivates me for the album I am working on now," he added.

Brussels rapper Hamza, Flemish pop singer Metejoor, Flemish-Dutch girl group K3 and Brussels DJ Lost Frequencies completed the top five in 2023. Flemish pop stars Camille and Pommelien Thijs finished sixth and seventh, respectively. The #LikeMe cast, Stromae and Angèle are also in the top ten.
