A person was injured on Monday night after gunshots were fired in the Brussels municipality of Forest. The victim is not in life-threatening condition.
The incident occurred at around 23:45 on Monday on Rue de Mérode, at the intersection with Rue Pierre Decoster, to the north of the municipality.
The individual was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital. The injuries sustained are not life-threatening, police sources said.
At least 30 shell casings were found at the scene, and the weapon used is believed to be a weapon of war, BX1 reported. The suspect or suspects managed to escape and are actively being sought. According to VRT NWS, another victim may also be on the run.
The police set up a security perimeter around the crime scene. The exact circumstances of the incident are being investigated. The Public Prosecutor's Office will communicate about the incident later on Tuesday.
