Federal Government Ministers met Tuesday at 19:00 in a select committee to work on pension reform. Although the meeting lasted till midnight, no agreement was reached.
The reforms consist of reintroducing a pension bonus, reducing the gender gap, part-time pension and access to a minimum pension. The latter is a divisive point in the negotiations.
On Tuesday morning, pension minister Karine Lalieux stressed the government's ambition to succeed with the reforms by 21 July before the summer recess begins.

Lalieux tabled a compromise note on Tuesday afternoon, similar to a text proposed on 20 May, to get as close as possible to the government agreement. However, the compromise note was not received well, according to sources close to the negotiations.
In addition, several sources underlined the difficulties in reaching an agreement for government coalition due to differing views from different political spectrum which makes up Belgium's coalition government.
