The world’s 10 richest people added over €350 billion to their already substantial fortunes last year, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Elon Musk, Time magazine’s Person of the Year, tops the list, with a net worth of €237 billion as of January 1, 2022, and a gain of over €100 billion over the past year alone, according to Belga News Agency. The Paypal cofounder and Tesla CEO did make even more (€123 billion) in 2020 but remains the world's richest person, and by some margin.
Behind Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos takes second place with a net worth of €167 billion. The founder and former CEO of Amazon earned €4 billion in 2021.

Frenchman Bernard Arnault is in third place with a net worth of €154 billion, of which over €50 billion was added in 2021 alone.
Arnault is the only person in the top 10 who is not from the US. Other notable figures in the list include Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (€112 billion, +22 billion in 2021), Bill Gates (€122 billion, +6 billion) and Google co-founders Larry Page (€114 billion, +41 billion) and Sergey Brin (€109 billion, +40 billion).
