Winter weather conditions are disrupting flight schedules at several European airports on Sunday, particularly in Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

Hundreds of flights have been cancelled or been delayed.

Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands have so far reported around 70 flight cancellations.

In Germany, multiple airports face disruptions on Sunday due to snow and freezing rain. More than 100 flights have been cancelled.

At Frankfurt, Germany’s largest airport, 120 out of the scheduled 1,090 take-offs and landings were cancelled.

In Munich, 35 flights scheduled for Saturday evening were cancelled as a precaution. This affected a total of 750 departures and arrivals at Germany’s second-largest airport, according to a spokesperson.

In France, 120 out of 1,090 planned departures and arrivals were cancelled on Sunday. According to airport operator Fraport, the capacity of airports is limited due to the need to clear runways and reduced visibility.

In England, Eurocontrol, the European air traffic controller, warned of “significant delays throughout the day” at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Airports in Manchester and Liverpool temporarily closed their runways on Sunday morning due to heavy snowfall. Meanwhile, traffic resumed at Birmingham and Bristol airports, where runways had been closed overnight.

Brussels National Airport was largely unaffected by the winter weather. Runways needed de-icing, but this only caused “minor delays,” according to a spokesperson.
