The long-distance train operator European Sleeper is launching a night train service from Brussels to the Alps and Venice from 5 February, the company announced on Tuesday.

The Belgian capital is currently connected to four major European cities – Berlin, Munich, Prague and Vienna – by direct night train. In just two weeks, Brussels will be connected by night train to a fifth: Venice.

"Leave the Low Countries in the early evening, make another stop in Cologne shortly before midnight and let the train take you through Germany overnight," said European Sleeper. "In the morning, wake up to breathtaking views of the Alps, before crossing the iconic Brenner Pass to South Tyrol and the rest of Italy."

The route, which operates twice a week in February and March, will link a series of winter sports destinations and popular cities. After Brussels, it will stop in Breda, Eindhoven, Venlo (the Netherlands), Cologne, Munich (Germany), Innsbruck (Austria), Bolzano, Verona and finally, Venice (Italy).

The night trains will depart at 18:06 in Brussels on Wednesday 5 February and Friday 14 February and arrive in Venice at 15:15 the next day. Return journeys are on Sunday 9 February and Tuesday 18 February, both leaving in Venice at 16:00 and arriving in Brussels at 12:48 the next day.

In March, trains will leave Brussels on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 12 March at 19:00 and arrive in Venice the day after at 14:00. The return journeys leave from Venice on Saturday 8 and Sunday 16 March at 16:00, arriving in Brussels the next day at 11:30.

As with its other services, passengers can choose several seating options, from seats and shared couchettes to private sleepers. Prices start at €79. More information about the journeys and tickets can be found on the European Sleeper website.

Since May 2023, European Sleeper has been operating a night train service that runs three times a week from Brussels to Prague via Amsterdam and Berlin. It is also working on a new daily connection between Amsterdam and Barcelona.
