A nine-day strike by the Independent Union of Railway Workers (SIC) and the Autonomous Union of Train Drivers (SACT) will end on Sunday at 22:00, with rail services expected to resume normally from Monday.

The unions are protesting various measures announced by the new Arizona government, notably the pension reform. This was the first strike under the new government’s tenure, lasting nine days. Its impact varied daily as SNCB and infrastructure manager Infrabel adjusted schedules based on available staff.

The strike wraps up Sunday evening, with an SNCB spokesperson confirming a return to normal traffic from Monday.

However, more strikes are anticipated in the coming weeks and months. On Monday, 17 March, all railway workers will strike. On 31 March, the CGSP Cheminots/ACOD Spoor and CSC/ACV Transcom will join the general public services strike.

From April, unions threaten to strike four days each month. Additionally, the small union METISP-Protect has announced a new strike from Sunday, 23 March to Sunday, 30 March.
