The physical integrity of the nuclear plant in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, occupied by Russian troops, has been "violated," the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said after inspecting the facility on Thursday.
"The physical integrity of the nuclear plant has been repeatedly violated," he told media on his return to Kyiv-controlled territory. "This is something that cannot continue to happen."
Grossi visited the plant for several hours on Thursday as the head of a team of IAEA experts. Most of the delegation left the facility at about 6:00 on Thursday.
According to the Ukrainian national power generating company Energoatom, five members of the IAEA delegation had remained behind at the facility and would stay there until Saturday, after which the permanent presence of IAEA observers at Zaporizhzhia would be worked out.
