A woman's life is believed to be in danger after she was rescued from a fire in the municipality of Schaerbeek on Sunday afternoon. The Brussels Fire Brigade has stated that the building, where the fire broke out, had been occupied by squatters.
They arrived at the building on Rue Jul Merckaert at around 16:30, where they found the unconscious woman, with the medical team on site managing to resuscitate her.
The victim was subsequently transferred to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

While the origin of the fire is yet to be determined. The fire brigade did confirm that no other residents were in the building when the fire broke out.
