Russia working on visa-free regime with African countries

Russia is working on a visa-free regime with several African countries, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large and head of the permanent secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, Oleg Ozerov, told TASS agency on Tuesday.

“We have visa-free agreements with six (African) countries and we are working on them with others […]. We are not excluding any country,” said Mr Ozerov. He added that the speed with which other agreements will be concluded was only a “matter of negotiations.”

The ambassador also pointed out that Russia had concluded visa exemption agreements for holders of diplomatic passports with 32 states in Africa. This is “a gradual process (…) and each case is the subject of separate negotiations conducted with the African countries,” he said.
