The Walloon government has approved subsidies totalling nearly €2.5 million for tourism development in two national parks, regional Minister of Tourism Valerie De Bue said on Friday.
The funds will be used to enhance the charms of both parks, increase the attractiveness of the sites, and organise tourist paths in line with the utmost respect for the natural environment.
One of the grants goes to the non-profit organisation 'Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse National Park Office,' which will receive €1.328 million to support the launch of 23 tourism projects. These include the establishment of five access points, the development of points of interest and a mobile application relating to Wallonia’s folk heritage.
The second grant is for the Semois Valley National Park Foundation, which will receive €1.161 million to implement 14 projects. Among these are the promotion of local wood, the enhancement of the landscapes of the Semois Valley at the Paysalia Landscape Interpretation Centre in Florenville, and the creation of multisensory artistic installations.
According to Minister De Bue, these tourism investments will ensure that the two national parks “can become two strong centres of attraction and create a territorial dynamic, taking into account the needs of the environment, local residents, businesses and tourists.”
