Europol, the European law enforcement agency, announced on Thursday that it has signed a collaboration agreement with Egypt.

The main aim of this agreement is to exchange data in the fight against organised crime on an international scale.

Europol intends to work with Egypt on human trafficking, illegal migration, child sexual exploitation, and international drug trafficking.

From now on, information will be shared with Egypt, which can also appoint a liaison officer.

Europol clarified that the goal is not to share personal data.

"The collaboration includes strong safeguards to respect fundamental human rights," assured the agency, which is signing its first collaboration agreement with an African country.
