Belgium's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dominique Mineur, will, on 1 October, become the first woman to hold the post of Secretary General of the Royal Palace.
She will take over from Pol De Witte, who has been secretary-general of the Palace since 1 September 2016.
De Witte, a former ambassador to Turkey (2009-2013) and Denmark (2013-2016) will take over the management of the Egmont Institute, the Royal Institute for International Relations.
The new Secretary General is a career diplomat and currently Belgian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
She previously represented Belgium in the United Arab Emirates (2014-18) and has held various positions within the Belgian diplomatic representations at the United Nations in Geneva and New York, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna and Paris, and at the Foreign Ministry in Brussels.
The Secretary General of the Royal Palace follows the major social issues in Belgium daily to inform the King and coordinates the King's audiences with representatives of civil society, as well as all the activities of the royal couple in Belgium and abroad.
