Water levels in the River Our, which flows through the Eastern Cantons, stabilised at all measuring points on Tuesday morning, according to the Public Service of Wallonia, SPW.

Hours before, the service had issued an alert due to recent rainfall.

The river forms part of the border between Belgium and Germany.

The water-level alert was declared on Monday around 11 p.m. A peak was expected overnight, but then levels fell on Tuesday while rainfall was expected to decrease on Tuesday to less than 5 l/m² per 24 hours.

In other parts of the country, especially in the east, rivers including the Lower Ourthe, Ambleve, Vesdre, and their tributaries, had also been on flood alert. However, as of Monday night, the Vesdre and Ambleve had already started receding.

For the Lower Ourthe, the SPW had expected levels to stabilise overnight before beginning to fall on Tuesday.

Water levels were generally stable on Tuesday morning from Chanxhe (Sprimont) to Angleur.
