Around 20 flights arriving at or departing from Brussels Airport have been cancelled on the last day of the three-day strike action held by Brussels Airlines cabin crew.
The action announced last week by the Dutch-speaking union ACV Puls and the French-speaking CNE began at Brussels Airlines on Wednesday. On the first day, the impact was limited to 20% of flights, the effect softened by the fact that other trade unions were not participating and the cancelled planes primarily concerned European flights, allowing the airline to rebook them on other flights during the day.
Slightly more flights that were scheduled did not go ahead on Thursday, but on Friday the impact is again limited. Around ten flights from Brussels Airport were cancelled and around the same number of incoming flights have been cancelled.
Again, around 80% of scheduled flights can go ahead as planned because the majority of union members and cabin crew aren’t striking, the company stated on Thursday. The main destinations that have been impacted are Edinburgh, Munich, Nice, Vienna and Vilnius while incoming flights from Conakry (via Dakar), Lomé (via Accra), New York, Birmingham, Oslo, Vienna, and Munich are also impacted.
People whose flights have been cancelled will receive a new booking proposal by email. Alternatives can be found via the Chat Assistant or by contacting the Brussels Airlines Service Centre (+32 2 723 23 62).

The Christian trade union CNE (which called the strike) says that the cabin crew at Brussels Airlines have long expressed the sense that they are underappreciated, which has led to exasperation. Their demands made several months ago have been ignored by their employer, the union argued.
The cabin crew are demanding better salary conditions and a reduction in workload. Further negotiation is scheduled to take place next week between Brussels Airlines management and the unions concerned.
