A team of 14 experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has arrived in Kyiv, as reported by CNN said on Tuesday.

The delegation of experts is expected to inspect the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, occupied by Russian troops, between Wednesday and Sunday

The mission has been placed under the direction of the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, which was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to Belga News Agency, a CNN crew spotted members of the delegation at their hotel in the Ukrainian capital.

Rafael Grossi announced on Monday that the mission was on its way. The Kremlin also stated on Monday that it hoped the mission would take place. Kyiv and Moscow have been accusing each other for weeks of targeting the plant.

The nuclear complex, located near the front line in southeastern Ukraine, came under fire again on Monday. It appears that the nuclear materials were not affected.

The IAEA experts will map the damage and the nuclear material, and examine the security systems as well as the working conditions of the personnel.
