Police closed a pizzeria in the historic city centre of Antwerp in Melkmarkt after discovering evidence of drug activity.

During an inspection by the federal food agency (FASFC), in which hygiene violations were noted, the agency found a bag of marijuana.

Upon discovering the drug, the inspectors alerted the police, who then conducted a search.

More marijuana was discovered in the basement, packed in small sauce containers. Behind the cash register, another container of drugs was found.

The police confiscated all the drugs and the cash on the premises, and arrested two suspects.

The pizzeria has been temporarily sealed, and the FASFC has ordered its closure.
