Brussels 'Winter Wonders' Christmas market will be extended until 7 January in some parts of the city. The après-ski village at Place Monnaie, the light shows at Grand Place and the ice-skating and curling rink at Place De Brouckère will be open for an extra week.
At the end of November, the 23rd edition of Winter Fun kicked off with numerous events and installations such as the Ferris wheel on the Marché aux Poissons, the ice skating rink on the Place De Brouckère, the wooden chalets serving mulled wine and raclette and the merry-go-rounds.
The event is drawing to a close but the Brussels authorities announced that the festivities at Place De Brouckère, Place de la Monnaie and Grand Place will be extended until 7 January, in a press release on Tuesday.
"It was important to us that families staying in Brussels during the Christmas holidays could continue to enjoy the magic of the holidays and Winter Wonders," said City of Brussels mayor Philippe Close.

To close the event, another Disco on Ice night will be organised in collaboration with Plein Publiek on the ice rink on Saturday 6 January 2024 from 18:00 to 22:00.
The Grand Place will also celebrate until that date with a light and sound show, Christmas tree and nativity scene. The rest of the Christmas market will remain open until 31 December, as initially announced.
