The cloudy, rainy weather is expected to hang over Belgium for a few more days, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, as by the end of the week, temperatures are predicted to soar.
This week started with a relatively sunny Easter Monday, but the weather soon turned, with clouds making room for heavy bouts of rain and gusts of wind on Tuesday. In the coming days, the weather in Western Europe will be determined by a succession of depressions moving from the British Isles to the Baltic Sea, the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) warned. This will result in a real mix of weather.
Most of Belgium will again be subject to this rain zone on Wednesday, which will start grey and wet. The afternoon will see clouds interchanged with showers. Temperatures will reach 8°C and 12°C in the High Fens and 12°C to 14°C in the centre of the country. There may be gusts of up to 60 km/h, particularly over the west of the country.
Thursday will once again be cloudy with fairly frequent showers. Locally, a few thunderstorms are even possible, the RMI noted. However, by the end of the afternoon, it will be mostly dry across the country, with temperatures of around 12°C in the High Fens and 16°C in the centre of Belgium. However, gusts of 80 km/h are expected.

By Friday, the weather will take a turn for the better. It will be dry with fairly high cloud cover and temperatures of 18°C in the High Ardennes and 21°C in Flanders.
Temperatures will continue to rise, and by Saturday, the weather will be warm and sunny with high veil clouds. Maximum temperatures will hover between 20°C and 24°C with moderate to locally quite strong southern winds, bringing very mild subtropical air from the south.
However, the summer weather will sadly not last. On Sunday, temperatures will once again drop to 15°C in the south and 19°C in the centre with showers of rain.
