The second edition of 'Mons en Lumières,' touted as the largest festival of light in Wallonia, takes off on Friday.
Inaugurated on Wednesday, the festival will take place over eight evenings: from 30 January to 2 February, and from 6 to 9 February.
The theme for the 2025 edition is 'Between Earth and Sky.'
A three-kilometre light trail is offered to the public, who can discover around 20 light installations and projections created in collaboration with artists, and local and regional businesses.
The guest of honour for the 2025 edition is Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata, known for his installations using natural materials.
Mons’ new train station, which opened in mid-December 2024, will be officially inaugurated on Friday evening as part of the festival.
Approximately 150,000 people attended the first edition of 'Mons en Lumières' in 2024.
