Heathrow airport: Air traffic resumed but with delays and cancellations

Not all flights will depart and land at London Heathrow Airport on Saturday as planned, according to British media reports.

Airport CEO Thomas Woldbye announced oRen Friday that the goal is to be “fully operational. ”However, the BBC reported nine cancelled flights out of a scheduled twenty arrivals on Saturday morning, all of which were long-haul flights.

British Airways expects to operate 85% of its traffic but warns of possible delays.

Heathrow, the largest passenger airport in Europe, was closed all day on Friday due to a power outage following a fire at an electrical substation. Flight operations resumed on Friday evening with some long-haul flights, and the night-time flying ban was temporarily lifted.

Approximately 200,000 passengers were affected by the outage. The Metropolitan Police stated the incident is not considered suspicious but the investigation continues.
