Nourrir Liège, the food transition festival, returns to the Cité ardente from 10 to 20 April 2025 – with a special request.
This 9th edition will focus on the One Health concept, including a teflon pan collection campaign, stated festival coordinator Élisabeth Gruié on Thursday.
The festival brings together numerous partners committed to sustainable, local, and inclusive food. Over 100 activities are planned for this edition, ranging from tours and walks to conferences, masterclasses, special restaurant menus, shows, and workshops.
To highlight the “One Health” principle, the organisers have launched a “Bring Your Pan” campaign, inviting citizens to drop off their teflon pans at collection points.
This initiative aims to raise awareness about the health and environmental risks of PFAS (permanent pollutants).
“Teflon releases PFAS during use and even during manufacturing. When manufacturers replace teflon with other substances, they are equally harmful. However, alternatives like stainless steel and ceramic exist,” explains Élisabeth Gruié.
Beyond the collection, to encourage consumers to choose healthier and more sustainable kitchen alternatives, a joint purchasing group has been set up to reduce the cost of buying new pans.
The collected pans will also be used by ESA Saint-Luc students to create a sculpture, which will be displayed at the Médiacité shopping gallery from 14 to 18 April, during the festival’s events.
Most activities are free or available at a low cost.
