On Thursday morning, over 500 people were blocked on a train between Ghent and Brussels for over an hour and a half.
The passengers boarded the train at Ghent-Saint-Pierre station at 07:30, bound for Schaerbeek.
However, shortly before arriving at Brussels-Midi, the train had to be stopped for an hour and a half.
SNCB, the railway operator, has since confirmed that this was due to a defective locomotive, with a replacement train being dispatched to the area.
