From 21:00 Saturday evening to 12:00 Sunday afternoon, the Brussels Ring (R0) will be completely closed in both directions near the Zaventem-Henneaulaan complex due to maintenance works.
The Flemish Traffic Center warns of serious traffic disturbances and strongly advises people to avoid the road, which will be closed for the demolition of the old bridge of Hector Henneaulaan.
Consequently, Hector Henneaulaan itself will also be interrupted, preventing traffic from moving from east to west and vice versa. The slip roads to the ring road on Hector Henneaul Avenue will also be closed as well.
Road users are warned of traffic jams with long waiting times, especially on the outer ring road. Belgium's Traffic Centre therefore strongly advises avoiding the Brussels Ring near Zaventem.
Diversion routes
There are diversion routes, although calculations by the Traffic Centre show that these roads do not have sufficient capacity for the expected traffic and so the alternative routes are likely to be slow.
The diversion route for traffic on the inner ring R0 (heading south) will be via exit three Zaventem-Henneaulaan and drive past the bridge on the R22 to the Sint-Stevens-Woluwe interchange to re-enter the inner ring or take the E40.
For the outer ring road R0 (heading north), travellers can take exit three Zaventem-Henneaulaan to rejoin the outer ring road immediately after passing the bridge on Henneaulaan.
