Italy and Turkey have submitted a joint bid to organise Euro 2032, the European Football Confederation (UEFA) announced in a statement on Friday.

"UEFA confirms that it has today (Friday) received a request from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to merge their individual bids into a joint bid to organise Euro 2032," UEFA said in its statement.

Turkey, who has never organised the Euros before, has also submitted a bid to organise Euro 2028 and is facing competition from a joint bid from the United Kingdom and Ireland.

With both countries as candidates to host Euro 2032, Turkey and Italy have decided to join forces. "UEFA will now work with the FIGC and the TFF to ensure that the documents to be submitted for their joint bid comply with the bidding requirements."

UEFA goes on to say that "if the joint bid complies with the requirements", it will be presented to its Executive Committee, which is due to meet on October 10 to decide on the host countries for the 2028 and 2032 Euros.

The next European Championships will be staged in Germany from 14 June to 14 July 2024.
