Europe Day 2024: celebrating a decade supporting European talent this Thursday

Since 2015, AB has been joyfully opening its doors for Europe Day with a celebration of European music and musicians. This year, AB is even more excited as they celebrate the 10th edition of the Europe Day bash, and the 10 year anniversary of Liveurope.

Europe Day 2024: celebrating a decade supporting European talent this Thursday

Liveurope is an AB initiative that has helped over 4,000 European artists to take their music to new audiences in some of the continent's top venues. With Belgium heading the EU Presidency and the European elections coming up, this edition takes on an extra special significance.

The world of music and policy-making will come together on 9 May at Liveurope’s musical celebration of Europe Day.

The event will be held at the beating heart of Brussels’ music scene, Ancienne Belgique and marks the 10-year anniversary of Liveurope, with confirmed artists so far Compact Disk Dummies and Chibi Ichigo, and up-and-coming European artists such as Magia Bruta, Bad Daughter, and Stanislawa.

The event is organised in partnership with the European Commission Representation in Belgium as part of the Belgian Presidency of the EU, and includes live performances, a panel discussion on challenges facing the music sector and a networking cocktail.

“Our Europe Day event is a concrete example of how culture can fuel meaningful projects that generate enthusiasm for the European project. Not only will it feature established acts but also new and emerging artists, showcasing the value EU-funded initiatives like Liveurope bring to cultural life across Europe. The EU should be loud and proud about having supported thousands of up-and-coming musicians over the past ten years. With the European elections coming up, this mission gains a whole new meaning.”  - Elise Phamgia, Liveurope’s General Coordinator.

With Belgium at the helm of the EU Presidency, the event will shine a spotlight on exceptional Belgian talent with international appeal. It will also showcase rising artists from across the continent, underscoring the cultural richness and diversity of European music just one month ahead of the European elections in June.

“Putting Europe at the centre stage of a music venue like Ancienne Belgique today makes even more sense than it did 10 years ago when the first edition of Europe Day took place.” - Tom Bonte, Ancienne Belgique’s General Director.

The concerts schedule is available on Ancienne Belgique's website.
