US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), a senior official reported.
According to US media, the sanctions target the personal finances and visas of individuals linked to ICC proceedings.
The ICC has issued an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was received at the White House by President Trump on Tuesday.
The United States is not a state party to the 1998 Rome Statute that led to the establishment of the ICC in The Hague. It was one of only seven countries that voted against it.
The others were Iraq, Israel, Libya, China, Qatar and Yemen.
