Walloon Minister of Economy and Digital Matters, Willy Borsus, attended the launch in Charleroi on Tuesday afternoon of Walhub, one of 151 European Digital Innovation Hubs.
Walhub has taken on the mission of promoting the digital transformation of Wallonia’s manufacturing companies. Supported by the regional government and co-financed by the European Commission, it will provide a range of consolidated services, from awareness raising to “proof of concept”.
It will do so from a set of partners including Agoria, which is coordinating the project, competitiveness clusters MecaTech and Logistics in Wallonia, the Sirris, Cenaero and CETIC research centres, Idelux and the Digital Agency.
The targeted digital transformation is based on four major technologies: artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, the Internet of things and cybersecurity.
Walhub’s aim is to demystify these technologies, reduce the risks linked to their implementation, and facilitate decision making.
Companies will be able to access physical demonstrators in three locations in Wallonia: A6K (Charleroi), Liège Science Park and Galaxia (Transinne)
While all dimensions of business life can be affected by digital transformation, Walhub is proposing to intervene with a particular focus on supply chains.
