Belgium's Prime Minister Bart De Wever (N-VA) took part in a meeting on migration ahead of the EU Summit in Brussels on Thursday morning. This is the first time Belgium has participated in it.
The leaders of Italy, the Netherlands and Denmark (Giorgia Meloni, Dick Schoof and Mette Frederiksen) initiated the meeting. A dozen other countries were present, as were European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, a European source told Belga News Agency.
This is the third such meeting, but it is the first time Belgium has participated. The EU Summit will cover many topics, including migration.
The leaders will take note of a letter von der Leyen provided them with on the topic. However, a diplomatic source hinted that no major discussions are expected on the subject.
