A railway strike on Monday by unions ACOD Spoor and ACV Transcom will result in half of the IC trains being cancelled.

The alternative service schedule, prepared by NMBS for the strike starting at 22:00 on Sunday, will be available in the online travel planner from Sunday morning.

On Monday, only 2 out of 5 L- and suburban S-trains will be operational, and almost no P-trains will run. However, the P-student trains on Sunday evening will operate as usual because they depart and arrive before the strike begins.

Rail passengers are advised to plan their journeys well in advance and frequently check the travel planner.

The two unions have scheduled a total of eighteen strike days until July in protest against federal government measures, including raising the retirement age and budget cuts at NMBS.

NMBS, Infrabel, and HR Rail regret that the unions are persisting with their strike plans, despite discussions with federal ministers this week. After Wednesday’s meeting, the unions said there is little room for negotiation on pension issues.

Further disruptions are expected later this month when the smaller union Metisp-Protect plans to strike from Sunday evening 23 March to 30 March, with train drivers and conductors alternating strike days.

ACOD Spoor and ACV Transcom have also planned another strike on 31 March to join the general strike organised by ABVV and ACV.
